When you have finished spraying, wipe it with a clean cloth and then rinse with warm water. Again it is important not to use any soap! Dry again. Repeat this process on the outside of the aquarium. Once this is complete, add fresh substrate, put back all the paraphernalia, and finally place the little guys back into their nice clean home. There you have it. The other famous pet in my state and one of the most famous in the world is Uga, the official mascot of the University of Georgia Bulldogs. For over 50 years this white bulldog has been pacing the sidelines, sitting on his block of ice and occasionally terrorizing opposing players at Sanford Stadium. The original Uga, known simply Uga I, first took to the sidelines in 1956. His descendants, all owned by the Frank W. Seiler family of Savannah, have followed in his path. Currently the Uga throne is held by Russ on an interim basis. Uga V became a college football celebrity in 1997 when he both appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and starred in the film, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." But Uga V is hardly the only Uga to attain media celebrity. Uga IV was featured in Time, Newsweek and Football News as well as Sports Illustrated (as was Uga VI). The Ugas have been honored by the Georgia House of Representatives, Georgia Senate Chamber and Georgia Governor's Office, and the Uga tradition was also the subject of a recent documentary, "Damn Good Dog."
One of the most famous cats ever is Morris the Cat. Morris the Cat is the mascot for 9Lives brand cat food, appearing on packaging and television commercials. A large tabby tom, he is "the world's most finicky cat", and eats only 9Lives brand, making this by voice-over comments when offered other brands. That wasn't western enough, so the name was changed to suit Hollywood's vision of a Western horse. Trigger and Roy Rogers performed together for 27 years. The horse died in 1965 at the age of 33.
So while famous pets have come from every walk of life and all gained different shades of notoriety, they are all famous pets in my book.

That's right...look around! What you have in your house could easily cause serious problems or even a pet loss as serious as death. We all know how curious our cats and dogs can be and providing a safe environment is not without its challenges. Let's look at some of the real dangers:

Plants - Cats often chew on houseplants and many types can be toxic to our pets nervous systems, kidneys, and liver. Some poisonous varieties you may be familiar with include plants started from bulbs, lilies, mushrooms, English ivy, and ferns.
Tylenol, Advil and other human meds - Any and all.....check with your vet before giving ANYTHING to your pet. If they have been ingested; they can be fatal.
Rat and Mice Poison - Another sweet tasting poison.....they can cause fatal bleeding internally and externally to your pet.
Finally, if your pet is prone to eating almost anything, you must be extra cautious. Vets have reported removing everything from rocks to socks from an animal's obstructed bowel.
We love our animals and want to make sure they stay safe. Extra diligence in avoiding the above potential pitfalls should provide the safest environment for them. If you suspect your furry friend got into something they shouldn't have - call your vet immediately. Quick treatment could end up saving your a life and preventing an unfortunate pet loss.

How to Make a Hands Free Dog Leash With Paracord
This is a useful leash to have if you are a jogger that likes to run with their dog. If you don't know how to tie the knots to make this leash, they're very easy to learn.
Supplies
You will need; Paracord (or a similar kind style rope) two leash snaps, one O-ring, a measuring tape, a pair of scissors and a lighter.
Remember to preshrink your paracord in hot water. Paracord loses 10% of it's length when it gets wet and when you are walking a dog it IS going to rain at some point.
Step 1 - Measuring Your Waist
Loosely measure your waist. This measurement should be comfortable enough to that you can walk, but not loose enough to slide over your hips.
STEP 2 - Measuring the Paracord
Add your waist measurement to however long you want your leash, in inches. To that number, add a 20 inch allowance for the knotting of the paracord.
STEP 3 - Fastening the O-ring
This is the first step for making the "belt" part of the leash. We are going to use the Surgeon's Loop Knot.
Using the measuring tape, measure off your waist measurement PLUS 5 inches. Slide the O-ring thru the paracord to the measurement and fold the rope. Now form a loop in the end of the line
Make an overhand knot with the O-ring.
Make another overhand knot with the O-ring
Now tighten up the knot that you have made.
STEP 4 - Adding the First Snap.
You will find that there is a long and short end of paracord. The SHORT end is forming the belt part. Attach the snap to the end of the paracord with the Surgeon's Knot as illustrated in step 3. Try the belt on for size, making sure that it is comfortable. If it isn't, undo the knots and start over until it is to your liking.
STEP 5 - Adding Knots to the Dog Leash
While you are out and about with your dog, you might face a situation where you have to control him quickly. This is where a few knots in the leash will come in handy. We will be tying Double Overhand Stopper Knots to accomplish this.
With the leash on you waist, mark the spot on the leash to where you can comfortably extend your grasp.
Wrap the end of the rope round itself.
Wrap it again.
Now pass the rope through both turns.
Tighten the knot. Make as many knots as you feel necessary to make a good leash to grab onto. I made two knots.
STEP 6 - Adding The Second Snap
Now you are knotting the snap for the dog's collar onto the leash. Use the Surgeon's Loop Knot from step 3
STEP 7 - Finishing The Leash
All the is left to do is trim the loose ends of paracord.
Cut the paracord, leaving about 1/2 inch of excess. You will need a little extra since the knot has not fully tightened from dog walking
Take your lighter and melt the end to keep it from fraying in the future.
Favorite Famous Pets
Famous pets have been dogs, cats, monkeys, horses and all other species. Some may consider famous pets to be only real life animals like Rin Tin Tin or Mr. Ed while others will include fictional pets the Budweiser frog or Curious George. I am going to hit on a few examples that are personal favorites and focus on real life pets.
One pet in my local area is the famous pink colored poodle Lacie, the unofficial mascot of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, Ga. and the most famous of the Macon pets. Every spring thousands from around the country and the world descend on middle Georgia for the annual event. There are arts and crafts, parades, softball and other sports, and just driving around town looking at the blossoming cherry blossom trees which give off beautiful pink blooms. But one of the most famous and noticeable attractions may just be Lacie the pink poodle. She is owned and trained by Paul and Alice Williams who own Pet Grooming.
The other famous pet in my state and one of the most famous in the world is Uga, the official mascot of the University of Georgia Bulldogs. For over 50 years this white bulldog has been pacing the sidelines, sitting on his block of ice and occasionally terrorizing opposing players at Sanford Stadium. The original Uga, known simply Uga I, first took to the sidelines in 1956. His descendants, all owned by the Frank W. Seiler family of Savannah, have followed in his path. Currently the Uga throne is held by Russ on an interim basis. Uga V became a college football celebrity in 1997 when he both appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and starred in the film, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." But Uga V is hardly the only Uga to attain media celebrity. Uga IV was featured in Time, Newsweek and Football News as well as Sports Illustrated (as was Uga VI). The Ugas have been honored by the Georgia House of Representatives, Georgia Senate Chamber and Georgia Governor's Office, and the Uga tradition was also the subject of a recent documentary, "Damn Good Dog."
One of the most famous cats ever is Morris the Cat. Morris the Cat is the mascot for 9Lives brand cat food, appearing on packaging and television commercials. A large tabby tom, he is "the world's most finicky cat", and eats only 9Lives brand, making this by voice-over comments when offered other brands. He also starred in the movie Shamus with Burt Reynolds and Dyan Cannon in 1973. He is a "spokescat" for responsible pet ownership, pet health and pet adoptions through animal shelters. He has "authored" three books: The Morris Approach, The Morris Method and The Morris Prescription. Over the years several cats have portrayed Morris. The original Morris was discovered at the Hinsdale Humane Society, a Chicago-area animal shelter,[1] in 1968 by professional animal handler Bob Martwick. All cats to play Morris have been rescues, either coming from an animal shelter or a cat rescue. The current Morris lives in Los Angeles with his handler, Rose Ordile.
And one of my favorite pets of all time is Trigger. Trigger was the horse ridden by Roy Rogers. Trigger and Rogers performed stunts at rodeos and were featured in numerous movies and television segments. Trigger had his own fan following, but few people know his original name: Golden Cloud. That wasn't western enough, so the name was changed to suit Hollywood's vision of a Western horse. Trigger and Roy Rogers performed together for 27 years. The horse died in 1965 at the age of 33.
So while famous pets have come from every walk of life and all gained different shades of notoriety, they are all famous pets in my book.

Pet Cremation Urns - The One of Kind Votive Candle Urn
One of the things I'm always on the look out for are new, creative and interesting ideas for my line of pet cremation urns. I'm very happy to share my latest creation with you here.
For the past several years I've been making some dew drop shaped votive candle holders on my wood lathe. It recently occurred to me that I could turn the same type of vessel into a one of a kind pet urn. After some experimentation I've come up with a design that is a winner and that you can't find anywhere else.
Working with beautiful woods such as Aspen, Ash, Ponderosa Pine and Walnut, I fashion a dew drop shape on my lathe. Then I hollow the vessel out so that it can contain the remains of your pet. I then create a lid that will be glued in place once the ashes have been inserted.
Now, here's where things get interesting. On top of the lid and still embedded into the top of the urn, is a votive candle in a glass holder. The glass keeps the wood safe from the candle flame and actually allows the flame to burn longer.
The votive candle urn is one of the most popular in my line of pet cremation urns.
I think that's simply because of how good it looks and the fact that it allows you to remember your beloved companion with a candle flame. Customers tell me that they enjoy lighting the flame on special occasions or even everyday as a way to honor the memory of their pets.

Pet Loss Guilt - How Long Does It Take To Feel Better?

Although they aren't usually cute and furry, they still make excellent pets for kids and can be handled with a bit of care to ensure they don't pinch. A great way of interacting with your pet is to remove them from their tank and then lay on the floor and encircle them with your arms. There was a recent story that hit the news about two to three weeks ago. Fourteen puppies were loaded safely onto an American Airlines flight from Tulsa to Chicago. The plane arrived at Chicago O'Hare at about 9 o'clock in the morning on Wednesday August 3rd. When the animals arrived a morbid truth had to be realized. Seven of the puppies are now dead.
Five of the canines died shortly after arrival and two more would die later at a veterinarian's office. An investigation has been ongoing for the past few weeks. The autopsies are scheduled to come in any day. Speculation and criticism are currently the only things being embraced. An American Airlines spokesperson has said that the cargo hold is kept between 50 and 70 degrees.
