What's This I Hear About the Nook?

A nook of birdhouses and bird feeders is something that is enjoyable and also helps in the survival of wild birds. Do you have a nook of birdhouses and bird feeders? If you do, are you listening to their songs and watching as they go about their day? Here are some of the varieties of houses and feeders that you will find in a backyard nook.
Do you like Decorative, Unique, Classic, Whimsical or Backyard Birdhouses? Decorative is a pretty birdhouse that would do honors to your yard. Everyone would love them including some of the birds. Unique is a different breed of birdhouses. They usually are shaped oddly, resemble a fishing shack or a sport like golf. Classic birdhouses are clones of our cottages and apartments. They may hold a few birds or many. Some are exceptionally functional as well as pretty. Whimsical birdhouses are usually made in the form of an frog, gingerbread house or flowers. They are usually termed as cute. Backyard birdhouses are like a garden type, welcome type or barnyard type. They fit anywhere in your backyard and you will enjoy them all.
Bird Feeders are a different story. You have some for Hummingbirds that are really petite and pretty. Some are made for songbirds, finches and small birds. usually they are Tube Feeders or Thistle Sacks. There are Hopper feeders that are not as safe as some of the others as they are open and sometimes close to the ground. Some other types are Hanging, Standing, and Squirrel-proofed. You can also purchase a baffle to squirrel proof them all. One other type that is especially good in the winter is the Suet Feeder. They all come in different shapes and sizes. Some are fancy and some are not. The main thing is the birds like them and they are safe from predators and the weather.
Bird Wind Chimes are exactly what they are named. They are pretty, decorative and have a delightful sound when the wind blows. These are a great addition to your backyard nook.
